First post, first Agile...

It's an AL3100 Flame with the licensed Floyd Rose.

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4075/4818582634_0cccb0491b.jpg

I wanted a tremelo for home recording and thought about a Floyd or a Stetsbar but they're expensive and I didn't really want to put one on one of existing instruments. So, I researched Agile for a couple weeks and the result is above.

I'm impressed! About the only thing cosmetic is the mismatch of the maple, but that doesn't affect the sound which is GORGEOUS. Everything works as advertised. The pots are smooth and there is no noise, the switch is fine, the trem is amazing.

I always loved ebony fretboeards but never owned one until now. It's stunning, and this neck is fast and smooth.

Workmanship, fit and finish and build quality really don't take a back seat to anything else I have.

There was a vibration when the strings were strummed unplugged and I tracked that down to the fancy locking nut which I have no experience with. I pressed down on it and it seems to have disappeared.

Oh, I got the $60 Douglas case also...very nice. Not as plush as the Epi cases but it sure looks solid and protective and that's what counts. That red satin cover is a nice touch, too.

Why spend $250 for a Stetsbar when I could have an entire instrument for $440 and not have to mess with my other guitars?

About the only thing I have to get used to is where I rest the heel of my right hand I feel the trem plate...just feels different.

Gonna have lots of fun with this! :bigthumb:

Wow...I'm lovin' this forum already!

I lurked here for a while before I ordered the AL3100. As some of you have guessed, I'm a photographer, probably the only other thing I love as much as playing.
I spend some time on photography forums and I can tell you...they can get REALLY uptight. The Nikon FanBoys flame the Canon FanBoys and viceversa. I've seen entire threads go off-topic because two or more people are having a heated argument about a certain lens, body, or whatever, trading insults and sarcasm to extremes.

Doesn't seem to be the case here...love it! And thanks to all for the warm welcome!

LOL!! I wish!

I do use Photoshop but I'm no ace. For this shot I selected all but the guitar and desaturated the background, then added a vignette. Tilted the camera a bit for effect. The flash was bounced off a white ceiling to minimize reflections which isn't easy considering the beautiful shine on the AL3100.

OK...no more photography lessons I promise. This is a GUITAR forum!

whats the fret access on that like for reaching the 24th fret? and the weight on it?

Welcome the Forum and congratulations on a beautiful new Agile!

The maple isn't mismatched. That's the way book-matched tops look. Imagine you have a board... cut down the middle and fold the pieces like opening a book. The figuring in maple has to do with the grain of the wood... when it curls in it looks dark, when it curls out it looks light. So it would make sense that when you split the board down the middle, the part of the grain that curls down on one side will be up on the exact other side. Now I probably really confused you... Anyway, trust me on this... check out curly maple top guitars in the a store... they all do that, and the grain will "move" around depending on the angle you are looking at it and light source.

Welcome the Forum and congratulations on a beautiful new Agile!

The maple isn't mismatched.

Well, heck I feel even better now! Your explanation makes sense, which is why no two are exactly alike I guess.

I've always had a fetish about nicely finished wood products...probably because anything I ever tried to do with wood turned to sh*t. It's really an art form IMHO.

Thanks for the welcome!

Nothing wrong with Pentax. I used to shoot Olympus, too.

i'm actually surprised that that guitar has 24 frets. i was looking at that guitars black counterpart that only has 22 frets.

I didn't notice that. I just checked and the 24th is a reach but doable. I seldom play that high.

whats the fret access on that like for reaching the 24th fret? and the weight on it?

The guitar is heavy as most any mahog/maple LP style would be. It seems that they all weigh over 9 lbs. except the chambered ones. When I say heavy I don't mean it would be a problem gigging with it

not a fan of cherry burst, but i do like having 24 frets, and i'm thinking of getting another floyd just for shits and giggles.

Of course, it isn't as easy to reach as the 22nd fret (last fret) on my Gibby SG.
